Job Summary
Please note this post is temporary. Salary will be pro-rated for part-time hours. You will be a motivated, enthusiastic and caring individual who enjoys working with adults who have autism / learning disabilities. Applicants should have experience in working with adults who have autism and a learning disability, preferably in a residential / home support setting, and possess the skills to achieve a safe balance of promoting independence and managing risk. You must be an excellent communicator and team worker who can develop good relationships with colleagues and service users. You will show a commitment to promoting human rights and be able to evidence person-centred approaches within your working practices. You must also have a sound understanding of social care values and of the professional role involved in working with adults who have autism / learning disabilities. Experience in working with adults who have autism / learning disabilities is essential, as well as holding a Scottish Vocational Qualification in Care at level 3 or willingness to work towards this as stipulated by the Scottish Social Services Council. Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council. Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check, which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment. In specific circumstances, the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following the commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead. Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary. The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
