We are an arts and crafts re-use charity, active in the circular economy, and would like to find a volunteer to manage our TikTok videos to highlight the eclectic range of materials that are donated to Work and Play Scrapstore. We already have a great following on Instagram (35K) and would like to replicate this success on TikTok. We are located in a warehouse in Tooting, SW London, and receive a wide selection of goods from eco-minded businesses, many of them major High Street names. Our goods range from trims, fine wire, and high-end textiles to haberdashery, perspex, glass, wood, leather, and theatrical props. We divert over 60 tonnes of materials from incineration and waste each year by giving everything a second life. As an award-winning waste warrior, our shelves are full of amazing items that can be featured in videos, as well as our volunteers who are happy to explain to the camera what new stock has come in and our members who are usually eager to share how they plan to use the materials they have collected. There is a rich mix to tap for video content, ideally for weekly or bi-weekly posts.
Main Duties
Visiting the store regularly to see new stock and conduct interviews with volunteers, staff, and members to create the finished videos. Uploading content to our TikTok site. What will the volunteering role offer the student and what will they learn while they are with you?
The volunteering role will offer the candidate ample opportunity to apply communication skills and develop a collaborative style of working with different customer groups. They will understand how our active participation in the circular economy works, apply data analytics skills to refine the content (to deduce which type of videos have the greatest impact), and learn about the operational restrictions inherent with a Third Sector employer.
