Overview
London Borough of Harrow is looking to allocate a Social Worker to join the Children and Young Adults Disabilities Service 0-25 (CYADS 0-25), including those in need of protection, children looked after, those subject to public care proceedings and, where directed by the Court, children subject to private law proceedings, children in receipt of care packages and those in residential placements. The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning, monitoring and review functions for all allocated disabled young adults and families. Your caseload will consist of a number of children and families, including children in need of support (CIN), those in need of protection, and children looked after, requiring a statutory service. This role is specifically for the 0-18 team and requires knowledge around the children's act. Please note, this role has a market supplement of £1,500. Furthermore, if we receive a high volume of applications, this position may close sooner than the advertised deadline. About You
The successful candidate will have: A detailed knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and other legislation relating to children plus other statutory regulations, guidance and procedures. Experience which includes casework responsibility for direct work with children and families within a statutory fieldwork setting(s). Experience in disabilities is mandatory as well as knowledge of direct work with children/young people with complex health and disabilities. Ability to communicate clearly and directly both verbally and in writing, with the use of interpreters and translators when required. Ability to build empathetic and supportive relationships with children/young people with complex needs and their families. Ability to discuss and negotiate with colleagues and partner agencies and to resolve differences of opinion or escalate these to an appropriate level of management. A recognised professional Social Work qualification (e.g. Degree in Social Work, Dip SW or CQSW or equivalent). Registration with Social Work England.
