About this role At Writer, you'll be working closely with the founders and the engineering team to build, manage, and scale a user experience that tens of thousands of people rely on every day. As a frontend engineer, you’ll build key feature sets for the Writer product, manage our in-house design system, and optimize our frontend code for performance and responsiveness. We’re looking for someone with great UX and UI sensibilities who can make thoughtful, beautiful decisions on things usually decided by PMs and designers. You’ll need solid knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript, HTML, and CSS. We’re also looking for strength in with Mobx, React and Redux. You’ll be our resident expert on frontend best practices and be a player/coach with the rest of the frontend team. ????️

Your responsibilities Build modular, reusable components and features for Writer’s web app

Extend our product design system and empower other engineers to build well-designed features efficiently

Integrate in-house and third party systems via APIs

Make sure every part of the web app is staggeringly fast

Work closely with our product team to design and develop new features

Contribute to an early, special team and help us build on our strong engineering culture

️ Is this you? Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

7+ years professional Software engineering experience working on modern web ecosystems

5+ years professional experience with Mobx, React, Typescript, Javascript, HTML, RESTful API, CSS, and other front-end technologies

Proactive communication skills, both sync and async

Sets the highest possible UX and UI bar for what you ship: it’s consumer-grade or bust

A love for writing

Preferred Skills Experience as a technical lead; making architectural design decisions

ATOMIC approach, Storybooks

NX, Github actions, PNPM,

Conducting Jest/Vite tests and leveraging ESBuild

Experience with Vue.js
