We are looking for an experienced and motivated Software Engineer to join the Apple Services Engineering team! We build and seamlessly integrate technologies that enrich people’s lives. You will join a diverse team of people who are passionate about developing new technologies and services for our customers. You will be collaborating with many different teams within Apple to further improve the quality of our products. The AppleJDK team has a number of responsibilities, including consulting, build engineering, and core development. The highest leverage work done by the team is developing and updating the JDK, which has a measurable improvement to customer needs, since this leads to direct improvements to service SLO, migration effort to the latest releases, and performance improvements across the fleet (e.g., native memory monitoring and trimming). Development work is gated by outreach and working with customers as part of the consulting work, since this leads directly to development projects.

Description

Join Apple's JDK team as a Production Engineer. You will be key to establishing and implementing the best of Apple enterprise technologies within the broader Apple engineering ecosystem. Partnering with teams using Apple cloud technologies for improving Apple products as well as identifying areas for opportunity and adding your input to process improvements and the creation of new technologies. This position is responsible for working closely with various Engineering teams to develop, implement, execute, analyze, and communicate the features and enhancements critical to deliver the next cloud services and cloud products for Apple.

Minimum Qualifications Proven track record coding in compiled languages such as C++ and Java. Experience with Java Virtual Machine internals. Proven experience building, maintaining, and debugging production services/platforms such as cloud infrastructure, load balancers, relational databases, orchestration and messaging systems. Demonstrated ability with software development, frameworks, and APIs.

Preferred Qualifications Experience with containers and container orchestration (Rancher, Kubernetes, Docker, Meso). Experience working in an open source community.
