About this position

We are currently working with a successful and progressive hi-tech engineering consultancy company, who are undergoing a period of growth and expansion after the opening of our second brand-new building in Warwick. They are a multi-award winning employee owned business.

The company's expertise falls into two sub-brands: Pharma equipment covers our own equipment portfolio, designed to support customers through the different phases of their product's lifecycle and Custom automation - our traditional area of business - where they seek to work collaboratively with customers in developing unique processes across pharmaceuticals, medical device, FMCG and confectionery industries.

They liaise daily with a prestige range of clients which include multinational blue-chip organisations to small startups and universities with our machines installed all around the world.

Job Responsibilities: The role includes PLC / HMI design, programming, commissioning, and problem solving throughout the full life cycle of a project from early-stage conception and sales support, through build and commissioning, and on to installation and aftermarket support. The role can also include Robot programming, Vision systems, and any other technology that is required to meet our customers' requirements. As the majority of the work is in the pharmaceutical sector quality is of great importance, the projects are expected to be validated in line with cGMP guidelines such as GAMP 5 and comply with industry regulations such as FDA 21 CFR11 and EU Annex 11. Discussion with clients and internal staff as part of a multi-discipline team to respond to requirements and design a concept. Aid with the development of cost estimates as part of our proposals work. Create validation documentation such as Software Design Specification, Test records, and machine supporting documentation such as O&M manual, Software Release, Disaster Recovery. Designing, coding, commissioning, testing, and aftermarket support for our worldwide bespoke machinery. System validation including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and onsite validation and handover to customer.

Experience Required: Passionate about automation. Must be fluent in both spoken and written English language. Must be authorised to work permanently in the UK. Must be authorised and willing to travel internationally. Travel typically less than 5% of time. 5+ years of experience designing PLC and HMI/SCADA software from scratch and making amendments/upgrades to existing systems. Experience with multi axis motion control. Experience working with communication protocols e.g. EtherCAT, Profinet, CAN, IP, Serial etc. Familiarity with IEC Structured Text, Object Oriented programming, and source control using git. Basic electrical knowledge and experience. Basic knowledge of mechanical and pneumatics principles. Beckhoff / Siemens control systems experience. Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry. Familiarity with GAMP / 21CFR11 / EU Annex 11 / GMP. Experience with developing Robots, Machine vision, SCADA / MES. Experience with .net and SQL.
