About the Role:

Davies Group is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Software Engineer to join their team. The role is varied, and you will work on projects such as creating new Claims Management Systems, continuous improvement of our existing Metrix systems, and bespoke back-office systems. You will primarily develop in PHP on a LAMP/WAMP stack but will also utilize JavaScript and CSS skills to produce modern, professional, and responsive systems. The work is performed in a relaxed environment under an “Agile” working methodology using a variety of in-house frameworks and public PHP libraries. As we work in an agile way, we are looking for someone with C#/.NET and general OO experience.

What will your day look like:

Assist in defining and adhering to development patterns and standards. Develop and support applications using primary PHP with also C#, .NET and React. Contribute to various development projects across different business areas. Support business as usual activities or project deadlines, including out-of-hours work when required.

What We’re Looking For:

Proven experience in PHP, C#, and .NET development alongside a front-end framework such as React. Knowledge of Agile/Scrum frameworks. A flexible and adaptable approach to work. Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Knowledge and Abilities:

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in OO languages such as PHP and C#. Non-framework PHP development. JavaScript & jQuery. MySQL database design, normalization, and query writing. Test-driven development. Secure coding (e.g., applying OWASP principles).

Desirable:

PHP frameworks (excluding WordPress). React. Front end / UI/ UX. Agile work methodology. Testing other developers’ code. Unit, End-2-End, and Automation Testing. CICD. Working on both Windows and Linux operating Systems. AWS. Docker. APIs. SOLID principles.
