Software Test Engineer

Job Description This is a new opportunity for a Test Engineer to join our award-winning AJ Bell platform. You will be part of a cross-functional Agile team understanding and testing core solutions that are pivotal for AJ Bell platform propositions, building close ties with the business and broader technology function. You will be joining a team which has a philosophy of continuous improvement, and a strong focus on engineering excellence. What does the job involve? Understand and interpret business, functional, and technical requirements Understand AJ Bell products and processes Pair with other members of the team Provide input into how solutions are developed and delivered Carry out testing across a wide range of processes and systems, including UI, API, back office (workflow) processes, and 3rd party systems Execute test scripts and record results using software testing tools Raise bugs in a timely manner with sufficient detail Work alongside Technical Leads and Testers to create and implement appropriate test automation approaches Be involved in exciting new research projects and proof of concepts Support User Acceptance Testing and release to Production Knowledge of Agile working practices Ensure that all duties are carried out with the aim of protecting customers and improving customer experience Support the business in achieving regulatory requirements Competence, knowledge and skill Full understanding of the testing lifecycle & methodologies Maintain and enhance existing automation frameworks Carry out exploratory testing within an Agile development environment Develop test tools, and extend test frameworks and environments Experience of testing Web APIs using integration tools Knowledge of Playwright, JavaScript, and TypeScript Familiarity with Test Driven Development Technical understanding of processes under test Understanding of test automation concepts Experience in CI/CD using tools such as Jenkins, Git, AWS CodePipeline Meticulous attention to detail Excellent communication skills Soft skills: Agile / SCRUM / SAFe Strong communication skills, written and verbal High levels of motivation and enthusiasm E-commerce and/or financial services experience About us: AJ Bell is one of the fastest-growing investment platform businesses in the UK, offering an award-winning range of solutions for professional financial advisers and DIY investors.
