Job Description
A part-time, permanent solicitor is required in the Commercial Team. Aberdeenshire Council is a friendly employer and is at the forefront of flexible working. Staff are provided with the latest technology to enable remote and home working. We are comfortable with staff who wish to work predominately from home and around their domestic arrangements. The principal areas of work include providing data protection advice, reviewing data protection impact assessments, managing the data breach reporting process, procurement advice, contract drafting, subsidy control, and TUPE. Candidates must have some experience of data protection law while experience in any of those other areas of law is desirable. You are a qualified solicitor with a practising certificate or can immediately obtain a practising certificate. There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation. This post requires a Disclosure Check, and where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory. This post has a minimum requirement of one reference which must be your current or most recent employer.
