Our Strategy and Architecture team has a fantastic opportunity for a Solution Architect to join them in Preston.
Our role
We are looking for an ambitious professional with strong people skills and a passion for architecture to set direction, provide architecture leadership on specific change initiatives that deliver the company’s digitalisation strategy – notably, the drive to lead the North West to Net Zero.
This role will be responsible for developing and maintaining product excellence in agreed business areas, focused on Real-time Systems and Operational Technologies, in terms of strategic direction and the investment portfolio, in alignment with the development of product teams, composed of technical and business colleagues.
Working in close collaboration with the other architects, Business Partners, Business Analysts, Operational Technology colleagues, and Head of IT Strategy and Architecture, this role will be:
Responsible for the architecture, design, creation and enhancement of service of Real-time Systems products and solutions including implementation processes as well as developing and ensuring outcomes are business-aligned;
Responsible for ensuring new products and services in this space are secure, viable and aligned to the Electricity North West Enterprise Architecture and Digitalisation Strategy;
Responsible for partnering with analysts, engineers and third parties to design and assure enterprise level solutions across operational (real time network) systems and non-operational (corporate) systems;
Responsible for helping in developing Electricity North West’s agile implementation processes, including policies and standards as they relate to enterprise architecture and design.
The successful candidate must, at the start of employment have permission to work in the UK without sponsorship.
There is opportunity for agile working following completion of your probationary period.
What we’re looking for
Experience working with Operational Technology solutions in Energy, Transportation or Manufacturing industries– but ideally in Electricity Distribution Management;
Experience designing systems that are required to deliver continuous operations, ideally for Critical National Infrastructure;
Working knowledge of eCAF security framework;
Experience in analysing and translating business, information and technology requirements into an architectural blueprint and related artefacts;
Experience of undertaking architectural assurance against the policies, standards and principles through the effective application of official governance procedures and less formal stakeholder engagement;
Experience of designing and implementing emerging solutions that enable adaptable implementation based on an initial design.
