We are pleased to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for Sonographers who would like to join our friendly, passionate and supportive team. Qualifications in all ultrasound areas, including MSK and Vascular, will be considered.

We are looking to expand our team to support the opening of our Newmarket CDC. Successful candidates should expect they will be required to work across West Suffolk Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, including the Newmarket CDC and other community sites (Thetford and Sudbury) on a rotational basis.

The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated, diligent, and committed to providing an excellent service to our patients. You will be required to obtain high-quality ultrasound images and diagnostic reports within the hospital and community settings.

This is an exciting time to join the West Suffolk Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with staff participating in the planning of our new hospital (Future System Programme). We are also working closely with other hospitals within our ICS and engaging with regional Trusts around Imaging Networks. We are pleased to have been awarded QSI accreditation for the last 12 years and in June 2024, successfully awarded BS7000 accreditation.

Main duties of the job You will be responsible for: Autonomously producing high-quality ultrasound images and diagnostic reports Maintaining high standards within the ultrasound team Training and supervising others, including supporting new staff in induction Teaching and promoting awareness and compliance with policies and protocols Participating in and supporting the governance programme, setting up ultrasound audits where necessary Participating in the ultrasound QA programme Working with other senior staff to ensure essential departmental administration and organisation is undertaken The care of the patient for the duration of their time in ultrasound, maintaining dignity, physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs Ensuring all personal mandatory training is kept up to date Carrying out tasks delegated by the Service Manager

Person Specification Education and qualifications Essential

Qualified Healthcare Professional, registered with a recognised governing body Recognised post graduate qualification in medical or clinical ultrasound (or equivalent) Comprehensive, up to date CPD portfolio related to advances in US imaging and management activities

Desirable

Additional training/qualification in a specific area of US scanning

Experience and knowledge Essential

Demonstrable clinical and leadership experience Understanding of the current challenges within general, obstetric and gynaecological US scanning Experience working in a hospital environment that supports a wide range of complex clinical examinations Interest and experience in gynaecology and obstetric ultrasound procedures

Desirable

Knowledge of the Quality Standard for Imaging (QSI) process

Skills and abilities Essential

Good written and verbal communication skills Good organisational and leadership skills Able to implement evidence-based practice Able to use a wide range of IT systems effectively Good manual dexterity Able to work calmly under pressure

Desirable

Awareness of all current topics and developments within the field of Ultrasound
