Main duties of the job Demonstrating leadership including inspiring and sustaining the commitment of colleagues, improving the quality of care for the South Wales Trauma Network through encouraging interdisciplinary and interagency collaboration with professional leads, service managers, and medical consultants. The Therapy/Nurse Consultant will provide expert opinion in Quality Improvement & Research projects. Take a lead role in formulating strategic plans for advancing the development of Quality Improvement and Research projects. Work across boundaries and in partnership with SWTN colleagues, to support the planning, development and delivery of Quality Improvement & Research. Have significant input into the design and evaluation of Quality Improvement & Research across the SWTN and will be responsible for monitoring the outcome indicators to inform service delivery. Develop partnerships with Third sector organisations. In addition, ensuring that the SWTN meet their targets for providing trauma care. Keep notified of and evaluate national and international developments to ensure that the SWTN is aspiring to meet best practice and influence at a national and international level. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Job description Job responsibilities The post holder will apply quality improvement initiatives and clinical audit processes along the whole patient pathway, in particular supporting work streams related to governance, paediatrics, rehabilitation and patient flow. In addition, the service specification requires trauma networks to conduct, co-ordinate and understand research relevant to high quality care in trauma patients (including accident prevention and rehabilitation). The post holder will provide clear outputs to improve delivery of high-quality trauma care across the network. Lead on the development and implementation of policies and procedures that support service improvement across the SWTN and examine appropriate research opportunities that will support network development and to schedule, organise and manage own workload. The role will cover both adult and paediatric major trauma. This role will be expected to work closely with: Clinical director for the network. Network manager and clinical and managerial leads across the network. Network leads for governance, paediatrics, rehabilitation and patient flow. WAST and EMRTS. Commissioning bodies. Other organisations (Universities, HEIW, Wales Deanery, emergency planning).
Person Specification Experience Essential Significant experience in Quality Improvement & Research. Knowledge of Quality improvement and research projects.
Desirable Publications as Author for Quality Improvement & Research. Prior experience working in/within a Major Trauma Centre or similar service.
Skills Essential Ability to maintain CPD to a high standard. Proven ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Proven leadership abilities.
