Job summary A vacant full-time position for a Specialised Physiologist has arisen in the Cardio-Respiratory Department at Ormskirk Hospital. The successful candidate will be an RCCP registered Physiologist with sufficient post-qualification experience. It is important that the candidate can demonstrate flexibility, good communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a team alongside fellow Consultants, nurses, and other Healthcare professionals to ensure high standards are maintained across the organization. An Enhanced DBS with barred lists for both Adults & Children is required for this post. Main duties of the job Provides fully comprehensive, unsupervised reports of a highly professional standard in a range of procedures. Uses clinical judgement to act on reports in an unsupervised way. Clinical supervision of testing. Assists with staff training programs for all levels of staff. Peer evaluation of competency levels. Stock control and management of consumable costs. Assists in the initiation of research and audit programs to review services. Deputises for other service leads in their absence. Participates in on-call service and provides out-of-hours sessions when required. Job responsibilities KEY DUTIES Provides fully comprehensive, unsupervised reports of a highly professional standard in a range of procedures. CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Delivers clinical skills and knowledge unsupervised across a wide range of basic and specialised clinical procedures. Proficient in a range of invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures. Provides high-quality care for patients. Communicates complex information and instruction sensitively, considering the diverse needs of all patients. Regularly communicates information concerning patients and their test results, giving advice and recommendations to a wide range of staff groups. ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES Ensures the accuracy of data quality in line with departmental policies and procedures. TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES Assists with the delivery of education programs in a broad range of subjects to a variety of staff throughout the Trust. Participates in mentorship arrangements and liaises with Higher Education Institutes for teaching and placements when required. RESEARCH & AUDIT Participates in national and local audits. Ensures compliance with all Trust research governance procedures. Person Specification Qualifications Essential: Degree in Cardiac Clinical Physiology or equivalent experience. RCCP registration. ILS. Desirable: IT qualification. ALS. Knowledge & Experience Essential: Experience in a broad range of cardiac and respiratory tests. Specialist knowledge in a range of cardiac and respiratory tests. Supervision of staff. Desirable: Educational / Mentorship experience. Managerial experience.
