To provide a qualified specialist service to children and young people with mental health problems across all sectors of care as part of a multi-disciplinary CAMHS team. The post holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures. The primary role is to provide direct clinical assessment and treatment to clients and their families. The post holder will provide advice and consultation to other members of the multidisciplinary teams and clinical and performance management supervision to trainees and less experienced professionals where appropriate and where identified in their Personal Development Plan. The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. Main duties of the job

To provide initial CAMHS assessments drawing on professional training and experience and clinical skills as well as appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of evidence-based sources including the use of routine outcome measures, rating scales, and semi-structured interviews with clients / families. To formulate and implement plans for the formal clinical treatment and/or management of emotional and behavioural difficulties of clients, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of these problems employing methods based upon evidence of proven efficacy within modality and with reference to appropriate clinical guidelines and care pathways (e.g. NICE, CEG). Regularly monitor and evaluate therapy programmes and progress using CYP-IAPT routine outcome measures and include family members where appropriate. To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical, environmental and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by standard care plans. This role will be suitable for either Mental Health Nurse (RMN), Social Worker, Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with the appropriate professional registration. General: To maintain and promulgate the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording, report writing and the responsible exercise of professional self-governance in accordance with professional codes of practice and Trust policies and procedures. To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to both the specific client group and mental health. To support the development, maintenance and dissemination of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes. To ensure all mandated and statutory training, professional registration / revalidation, supervision recording, appraisal and development standards are maintained as required within CNWL and the CAMHS ED Service Line. To adhere to Trust and local policies regarding annual leave, sickness and absence, and codes of conduct within the workplace to maintain a safe, effective and courteous professional environment. Education and qualification

Professional qualification in Mental Health Nursing (RMN) or Social Work Professional registration with the appropriate recognized body Research training Non-Medical Prescriber Experience

Experience of working within multidisciplinary CAMHS team Experience of providing specialist CAMHS assessment and treatment Experience of working with a wide variety of age groups, presenting with mental health problems, including children with learning disabilities. Experience of delivering evidence based treatment using a range of modalities in a number of cultural contexts Experience of working within NHS setting Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision. Supervised experience of other evidence based treatment in relation to children with mental health problems Knowledge & Skills

Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information including diagnoses and formulations to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS Experience of assessing mental health risk and safeguarding concerns Skills in the use of complex methods of assessment and intervention Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups. Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance and as appropriate, to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour Knowledge of CAMHS legislation Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of multi-media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings Experience of planning and delivery group treatments Able to build constructive relationships with warmth and empathy, using good communication skills Treats service users with respect and dignity at all times Enthusiastic, flexible and confident approach to working Able to prioritize own workload and meet performance requirements for the role Willingness and ability to learn new skills and adapt to change Honesty, enthusiasm for area of work Disclosure and Barring Service Check
