This post is a great opportunity to develop your interest and skills in Children’s Physiotherapy. This post is open to an experienced Band 5 looking to work in paediatrics, or a Band 6 hoping to broaden their skills. The post is predominantly working with a community caseload of children and young people with long-term conditions seen in mainstream, special school, home or outpatient settings. The role will also include paediatric inpatient care. You will need a proven interest in working with children, means of independent transport to access community settings, and excellent communication skills. We offer support from an experienced, friendly team of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists with excellent resources based in Children’s Centre at the Royal United Hospitals Bath. We are unable to provide sponsorship for this post for overseas applicants.

Main duties of the job

To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment, diagnosis and treatment for a specialised paediatric clinical caseload of children and young people 0-19 years. To hold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service both in Community settings and within the Children’s Centre, including the Children’s ward, working without direct supervision. To hold the caseload for children with additional needs requiring physiotherapy intervention who attend Special Schools within BANES. To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training, clinical reasoning sessions, and peer review. Access to advice and support from a more senior physiotherapist is available if required.

Qualifications

Essential

Degree in Physiotherapy Current HPC registration

Desirable

Involvement in paediatric Special clinical interest group Attendance at recent postgrad courses relevant to the post

Knowledge and experience

Essential

Evidence of excellent communication skills with children, carers, and professional colleagues Experience as a qualified physiotherapist working as part of a physiotherapy or multi-disciplinary team Evidence of a keen interest and experience of working with children/young people

Desirable

Experience of supervising students or therapy support workers Evidence of understanding workings of community and acute paediatric services

Experience of organisation, prioritisation, and delegation skills Demonstrate up-to-date with professional and evidence-based practice relevant to the post
