Main duties of the job

We are seeking an experienced Dietitian to join our Community Nutrition Support Dietetic team at East Sussex Healthcare Trust. This is an exciting specialist position working within the community nutritional support team and collaboratively across our integrated acute and community pathways, to provide seamless patient care. You will work as part of the community dietetic team, to support the specialist nutrition and dietetic management of patients across East Sussex. Using specialist knowledge and skills to assess and treat a variety of patients in clinics, in their home or care setting, as well as remote appointments. You will have the opportunity to consolidate and develop clinical skills needed to manage nutritionally complex patients requiring both enteral and oral nutrition support. You will be able to participate in regular audit of services in line with Team objectives provided, identifying and carrying out research where indicated. Our Community Nutrition Support Team consists of dietetic assistants, apprentice dietitians, and Band 5, 6 and Band 7 dietitians. You will be working alongside the Band 7 team and clinical leads, as well as our new ACP Dietitians. You will be able to help supervise student dietitians and our dietetic assistants, along with providing training and support to our band 5 rotational dietitians. About us

To be responsible for the specialist nutrition and dietetic management of patients referred for nutrition support (including oral nutrition support, enteral nutrition support, assessment and treatment) using specialist knowledge and skills. To assess patients in acute or intermediate care settings, their own home, nursing/care homes, telephone clinics or outpatient clinics. To provide training on the identification, treatment and monitoring of malnutrition to nursing staff, nutrition support care staff, care home staff, other health professionals, catering staff, patients and their carers. Qualifications

4 year degree in Dietetics or equivalent Current State Registration with Health Professional Council Evidence of further postgraduate experience in specialist area Postgraduate training in behavioural change/motivational interviewing techniques Experience

Experience of enteral nutrition. Conducting patient and other health professional group education. Training of Student Dietitians. Experience of assessing and treating patients with a range of complex medical conditions. Skills

Sound clinical knowledge with an understanding of current issues, research, NICE guidelines and best practice. In depth knowledge of prescribable oral nutritional supplements, enteral feeds and other dietetic products, medications and drug nutrient interactions. Function, components and benefits of clinical supervision in order to give and receive clinical supervision. Excellent verbal, written and active listening skills that communicate information accurately, effectively and sensitively, both verbal and written to patients and professionals at all levels.
