Provide a comprehensive medical inpatient service. Be responsible for diagnosis and treatment for general medical inpatients. Participate in the 1:11 general medicine on-call rota as agreed with appointee. Provide professional supervision and management of junior medical staff. Person specification
Qualifications
MBBS or equivalent. Membership with the Royal College of Physicians or Equivalent. GMC registration and license to practice. Experience
Experience in acute ward based and outpatient medicine. Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in general medicine. Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients. At least twelve years post graduate experience with minimum six years at the Specialty Doctor or equivalent level, and in general medicine. Teaching
Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, post graduates and junior medical staff. Audit and Research
Evidence of participation in clinical audit relevant to speciality. Motivation
Commitment to the development of a high-quality, cost-effective service. Management
Knowledge and understanding of current NHS issues. Ability to develop services. Personal Skills
Energy and enthusiasm and the ability to work under pressure. An enquiring and critical approach to work. Caring attitude to patients. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other staff and agencies. Commitment to continuing medical education and professional development. You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
