An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic leader to apply for the post of Matron within the Specialist Medicine CSU. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct leadership and support to their relevant clinical areas and specialist nursing teams.
Specialist Medicine is a large business unit made up of several different specialties including Respiratory medicine, Cardiology, Haematology, Oncology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care, the Transfusion Service and the Medically Fit for Discharge Ward.
You should be a registered nurse with senior leadership experience who is passionate about high-quality patient care. You should have experience of clinical governance frameworks and service improvement projects. You will be expected to be based at Bradford Royal Infirmary but may be asked to work from other clinical sites. You will be expected to work autonomously as a senior nurse as part of the Specialist Medicine Clinical Services Unit alongside fellow Matrons and reporting directly to the Deputy Director of Nursing.
Main duties of the job
Strong clinical leadership and effective management
Operational nursing lead for the development, implementation and evaluation of care
Ensure that the patient experience is of the highest quality inspiring patient and public confidence.
Ensure that all patients are treated with compassion, dignity and respect placing value on diversity of the local community and beyond.
To have local open and transparent communication channels that support the clinical teams to do the right thing for people we care for.
Effectively managing risk.
A key member of a multi-professional team
Pathway management and development for cardiology patients.
Play a crucial role in the clinical governance systems
Lead specific programmes as agreed with the Specialty Lead and the Deputy Director of Nursing for the Clinical Service Unit (CSU), in order to achieve a high level of compliance with National Strategies and targets relevant to your clinical specialties.
Represent the service nationally, regionally and locally working collaboratively with all stakeholders including the Yorkshire and Humber Strategic Clinical Networks and Senate, NHS England.
Development and monitoring of training and education to develop senior nursing and multi-professional staff knowledge and skills to enhance the quality of the service user experience.
