Job Overview
• Assess for and fit off-the-shelf braces and thermoplastic splints for patients at the West Cornwall Hospital and the wider Cornish health community. • Develop specialist skills under the guidance of Clinical Lead. • Provide clinical cross cover within your team as delegated by your Clinical Lead. • Attend clinical level discussions/meetings relating to your area of work as delegated by your Clinical Lead. • Contribute to the service through innovation and audit as required. • Develop a high level of product knowledge and provide advice to other health care professionals. • Provide formal and informal training to colleagues as required. Qualifications
Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent. HCPC registered. Experience
Comprehensive experience of working in an acute hospital setting including some musculoskeletal/orthopaedic experience. Experience of assessing for, and fitting prefabricated supports and/or moulding bespoke splints and braces. Practical and Intellectual Skills (Including Any Special Knowledge)
A good understanding of MSK clinical anatomy and physiology. Well-developed communication skills - empathy, negotiation, and motivation, presenting complex facts in an understandable way, reassurance, and support particularly to anxious people.
