The Role We are looking to recruit a Specialist Nurse (Children’s Services Diabetes) to join the Integrated Community Children's Nursing Service at University Hospital Wishaw! The Specialist Nurse will provide nursing leadership within the Integrated Community Children's Nursing Service, in supporting the delivery of nursing skills and knowledge in the care, management, and education of children, with specific specialist disorders within the hospital and community setting. This role encompasses autonomous practice, caseload management, and a level of specialist knowledge and intervention, required by a specific patient group, their carers, and other staff involved in the care delivery process. Contract type and Shift Pattern Band 6/ Full Time / 37 hours /

Fixed Term (until November 2025) Please note this is a fixed term post until November 2025. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment.

What we'll need you to bring Registered Sick Children's Nurse with valid NMC Registration Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level Postgraduate expertise within speciality/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively, and efficiently Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality/area of practice Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies, and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality/area of practice Leadership skills to enable the day-to-day management of service delivery Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/postgraduate qualification Excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills Effective time management skills Working knowledge of basic information technology It would be good if you also had: Masters Degree in specialist area Evidence of further education including Post Grad Certification Diploma continuous professional development in relevant areas Qualified paediatric/child branch nurse Experience working in the Community Evidence of personal/team research and audit Demonstrate knowledge of locality and national Policy within speciality Expert clinic practice Up to date with research and development for speciality Demonstrate analytical and judgement skills Competent in application of research-based evidence in working practice Skilled in establishing and maintaining relationships Ability to prioritise workload Evidence of training Evidence of effective problem-solving skills IT and database management skills Flexible and adaptable in responding to service needs in dynamic and rapidly changing environment Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence Ability to carry clinical equipment eg monitoring equipment Ability to carry non-clinical equipment eg records, health promotion equipment, laptop & projector Looking to find out more?
