We are looking for highly motivated, innovative, and friendly band 6 Occupational Therapists to join our Stroke, Rehabilitation and Early Supported Discharge Team at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals Trust.

We are excited to offer more than one position and therefore will consider part and full-time hours. You will be based at the Princess Royal Hospital Telford covering the inpatient stroke unit.

We are seeking post holders who have experience in Stroke or neurology and possess current HCPC registration relevant to this position.

We are looking for someone who is flexible, has good time management skills, works well in a team as well as independently, and is able to aid and appraise Band 5's and Support Worker staff. The post holders would be expected to mentor students by being a practice educator linked with the universities.

We offer patients the opportunity of assessment and treatment over weekends and Bank Holidays, and the post holder would be expected to participate in the 7-day working rota for this.

Please note you will need to be able to meet the driving requirements for this role.

Main duties of the job

To assess, diagnose/interpret and manage own specialist caseload of complex patients as an autonomous practitioner in accordance with Professional Code of Conduct and Health and Care Professions Council Regulations. To have developed, through experience and postgraduate training, the specialist knowledge and clinical skills required for the post. The post holder will work in close cooperation with colleagues within all Care Groups to deliver a cohesive service that is user-led, ensuring a consistently high standard of patient care, optimal patient flow, and safe timely discharge. To work closely with team coordinators and senior therapists to ensure a robust structure of training, supervision, and appraisal is delivered to all members within the team. To act as a source of specialist advice and support within the Therapy Centre and across the Trust and the wider health economy. To have highly effective communication skills and demonstrate these on a continual basis with patients, carers, colleagues, and the wider Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT). To undertake audit as a part of the role.

Our acute stroke service is based at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. Services include hyper acute and acute stroke care wards. We work closely with our Stroke Early Supported Discharge Team, which is based in Shrewsbury and is line managed by the same managers.

We have a strong culture of professional leadership and support. Each profession has a head of profession delivering local, regional, and national professional strategy. This includes AHP's into action, job planning, electronic rostering, electronic data capture, quality improvement strategy, and representation at internal and external meetings raising the profile of Therapies at all times.

We are a friendly, supportive, and welcoming team consisting of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, and our therapy support worker team. We strive for clinical excellence and are motivated for service improvement and people development. We are invested in our team and offer regular in-service training sessions and external training opportunities, as well as regular clinical supervision by our experienced clinical leads.

Qualifications
