An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Psychologist to join our multi-disciplinary Community Learning Disabilities CAMHS team based at North End House in Durham. This vacancy is open to either experienced Band 8A psychologists or offered as a Band 7 psychologist development post. Successful candidates who are appointed at Band 7 will be expected to work towards the competencies of the B8A Psychologist role and regraded to higher banding upon successful completion. We take our staff development needs seriously and upon starting in the service we will work together with you on your CPD needs. Within the Psychological Professions we have a strategic approach to developing staff and have a range of opportunities for individual development such as training within a psychological therapy or area of specialised psychological practice.
The team works with children and young people with a learning disability up to the age of 18, alongside their families. We operate an assessment, treatment, and consultancy model to ensure that young people and their families receive high quality, safe, effective, evidence-based care, in line with national guidance.
Main duties of the job The successful applicant will be joining a well-established community team, at an exciting time of transformation. The post will involve working in the community within the supportive and collaborative multi-disciplinary team to provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and interventions to young people and their families. The post holder will also offer supervision, advice, consultation and training to other members of the team and our partner agencies. There are multiple opportunities to be involved in service development initiatives as the service is constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of our population. We are seeking an enthusiastic psychologist looking to develop their clinical leadership skills and can contribute to our collective leadership approach within the service transformation and within the Trust.
Experience of working with young people with additional needs and their families is important, as well as the ability to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team and with our multi-agency partner organisations. Experience of working systemically would be beneficial. Service development ideas and innovation in the role are encouraged and welcomed. The post holder will receive regular supportive supervision from the Consultant Psychologist within the service.
