We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, forward-thinking Specialist Physiotherapist who is keen to develop and advance their clinical skills within a friendly, supportive, and innovative environment.

This is a full-time permanent post with some evening clinic cover required.

Main duties of the job

Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust MSK Physiotherapy service provides a comprehensive range of treatments for patients presenting with a wide variety of MSK related complaints. We operate as part of the Wirral MSK triage service providing assessment and treatment of MSK conditions and referring back to triage for onward investigation where this is identified. We also receive referrals from secondary care with a mixture of orthopedic, rheumatology, and post-operative conditions. Working as an MSK Physiotherapist, you will be required to assess to a high standard and provide a range of quality and evidence-based interventions in a variety of community settings throughout the Wirral peninsula.

You must possess a degree in physiotherapy and be registered with the Health & Care Professions Council. You must also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and other healthcare professionals.

About us

The MSK service as a whole offers osteopathy, outpatient neurology, hand splinting, and access to well-equipped patient gyms. We also have close links to the podiatry service for biomechanical assessments.

Person Specification

Experience and knowledge

Essential

Broad experience of working in a variety of clinical areas as a physiotherapist e.g., elderly care, neurology, general medicine, orthopaedics, MSK, respiratory care. Good knowledge of working in a specialist physiotherapy area. Knowledge of current best practice in the specialist physiotherapy area. Knowledge of team/group dynamics and the role of a Physiotherapy specialist within a team. Evidence of effective working within an MDT. Good computer skills. Excellent clinical reasoning skills. Broad base of clinical physiotherapy knowledge and different approaches required for clinical interventions. Knowledge of governance issues. Supervision of staff and delegation of tasks. Ability to work under own initiative, be adaptable, flexible, compassionate, and approachable. Ability to establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with service users and their carers. Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines. Effective communication skills, including report writing and presentation skills.

Desirable

Clinical experience of working in a related clinical area. Experience as a physiotherapist in the NHS and be able to demonstrate awareness of current NHS and organization issues. Respiratory on-call competence as relevant to the post being applied for. Evidence of participation in health, safety, and risk management. Participation in audit/research.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

Degree in physiotherapy or equivalent. HCPC registered physiotherapist. Relevant postgraduate level training or equivalent relevant experience. Evidence of CPD.

Desirable

Clinical educator certificate. MSc modules in relevant health studies.

Personal qualities

Essential

Ability to travel to various hospital and community locations. Ability to fulfil occupational health requirements for the post, with reasonable adjustments as necessary. Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance. Awareness of relevant national frameworks/guidance relating to area of work. Commitment to professional lifelong learning. Able to cover evening clinics as required by the service.
