Due to recent service expansion, we are looking for an enthusiastic Specialist Physiotherapist with an interest in working with adults with learning disabilities in the community. This permanent Band 6 Specialist Physiotherapist post serves the Northumberland and North Tyneside Learning Disability community population, with referrals to the service being managed by the leadership and administration referral hub within Northumberland. The core physiotherapy team will provide assessment and intervention to service-users from across the Northumberland and North Tyneside region, who present with a broad range of complex and varied conditions. You will be joining a Band 7 Clinical Lead Physiotherapist, a Band 6 Specialist Physiotherapist, and a Band 3 Physiotherapy Assistant. The post sits within the Northumberland Community Learning Disability team and your base will be at Eddie Ferguson House in Blyth. As the Physiotherapy clinical delivery is a county-wide service, there are other team bases at Greenacres in Ashington, Alnwick Fire Station, and Dene Park House in Hexham. Main Duties of the Job

The post holder will be an integral part of the wider team which delivers a range of specialist assessments and interventions for adults with learning disabilities. The team has expanded over recent years and comprises a range of clinicians including Community Nurses, Nursing Associates, Support Workers, Clinical Psychologists, Positive Behavioural Support Practitioners, Specialist Nurses, Clinical Pharmacist Associate Practitioners, Non-Medical Prescribers, and Psychiatry. The post holder will have regular clinical and managerial supervision and support from the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist. Long arm development support and CPD opportunities are provided via a Trust-wide learning disability physiotherapy network. A variety of support and development opportunities can be expected from the wider leadership team and the MDT. The post holder will be expected to supervise and support Band 3 Physiotherapy staff, as identified in the job description. Job Responsibilities

You will need to have: Experience working as a Physiotherapist in learning disabilities or neurological services. Core skills and knowledge as indicated within the job description. The ability to organise and prioritise duties and activities within the range of work allocated. Experience of supervising and allocating work to Physiotherapy staff. The ability to communicate effectively, record contemporaneously as per policy, devise and communicate effective interventions as per job description. The ability to work effectively as part of a community MDT while also being able to work using your own initiative. Ability to form and promote positive relationships with service-users with a learning disability. Ability to remain calm under pressure and in challenging situations. Ability to work proactively and manage competing demands. Support the wider clinical team in managing and refining the core service delivery, reviewing quality standards and clinical developments associated with the specialism. Skills and Competencies

Skills in a range of appropriate standardised and informal assessments. Highly developed communication skills. Proven ability to communicate effectively within multi-agency teams. Provide appropriate therapeutic interventions. Ability to use IT systems. Experience of communication with people who have communication difficulties. Qualifications

HCPC registered Physiotherapist. Recognised Physiotherapy degree qualification or equivalent. Further relevant post qualifying training. Evidence of relevant post qualification training. Experience

Proven track record of post-registration, clinical experience in learning disabilities and/or neurological services with transferrable skills. Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, HCPC and CSP standards and other local and national initiatives. Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of providing Physiotherapy services. Clinical leadership and induction of staff. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
