Specialist Practitioner
to join the Dynamic Support Team and to be at the forefront of developing the service alongside the rest of the team. You will work with highly skilled mental health professionals who are committed to supporting home and community-based care, facilitating safe discharge, and reducing young people's length of stay, should admission become necessary. It is essential to be committed to safe and effective team working. The role includes individual, family, and group work and the provision of telephone support to young people. The pilot will help shape an effective and consistent model of care in South-West London, which aims to bridge the gap between community services and inpatient care, whilst also strengthening longer-term local services for autistic young people. The service operates 5 days a week from 9 am to 5 pm. Main duties of the job
To be a member of the Dynamic Support Team, working closely with the multi-disciplinary team to provide specialist assessment, interventions, and consultations to a small group of young people, families, and care agencies. To provide highly specialist clinical services to a small number of children and young people identified through the Dynamic Support Register with a diagnosis of ASD and their families/carers across all sectors of care, providing evidence-based psychological assessment and treatment in line with NICE guidance. Providing telephone support in a crisis, supporting young people and families at home to manage periods of distress and develop positive coping strategies. Co-facilitating therapeutic groups or activities. Working closely with families/carers to provide education in managing and responding to a young person's needs. Completing audit, quality improvement, and research. Providing professional and clinical supervision of trainee and junior staff in the team. This role involves independent daily travel across South West London and some lone working, within a close supervision structure. About us

Provide highly specialist assessment and intervention services to children and young people identified through the Dynamic Support Register with a diagnosis of ASD and their families/carers across all sectors of care. Carry a caseload and coordinate care for children, young people, and families on the caseload. Provide outreach work within various locations, including inpatient settings, schools, homes, community placements, and local CAMHS districts as appropriate. Support the Departmental clinical governance structure through clinical supervision and input to supervisees' PADRs. Support and promote the use of outcome measures within the CYP IAPT framework to evolve clinical practice and enhance user experience. Seek opportunities to include young people's perspectives in service delivery and development throughout the pilot duration. Work with the Clinical Service Manager to support the work of a specific team or service area. Provide specialist psychological advice, guidance, and consultation to other professionals contributing to formulation, diagnosis, and treatment plans for children and young people with ASD. Undertake mental health risk assessments and risk management for individual children and young people. Act as mental health care coordinator, initiating planning and review of care plans under enhanced CPA. Collect and evaluate data to support reporting back on KPIs as part of the pilot. Qualifications
Qualified clinician registered with the appropriate professional body (e.g., HCPC for Clinical/Counselling Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech and Language Therapists; NMC for Registered Mental Health Nurses). Evidence of continuing professional development. Post-qualification training in the clinical supervision of trainees. Additional training in a specialised area of psychological practice through formal post-qualification training or an evidenced portfolio of supervised practice-based learning. Training as part of a CYP IAPT collaborative in a recognised evidenced-based approach. Formal training in the supervision of a psychotherapeutic modality. Further training in a recognised evidence-based psychological therapy. Completed training in autism-specific assessments (e.g., ADOS-2, ADI-R). Significant experience in a senior professional role band 7 or above. Experience
At least two years of qualified experience in a range of mental health settings, including with autistic people and young people whose behaviour challenges services. Consolidated experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment across various care settings. Experience of working with individuals with autistic spectrum disorders. Experience of working with clients with a range of psychological needs of a complex nature. Experience of carrying a caseload of service users with complex and diverse needs in a mental health setting. Experience in writing specialist reports within the respective discipline. Evidence of having worked as a clinical specialist in child and adolescent neurodevelopmental CAMHS. Experience of teaching, training, and/or supervision. Demonstrate further specialist training and experience by having received a minimum of 50 hours of clinical supervision over a minimum of 18 months. Experience of conducting postdoctoral research, audit, or service evaluation projects. Experience of a range of specialist behavioural assessment and interventions with clients with ASD.
