Competitive (aligned with NHS pay scales, ST3-8) Job Summary The Specialist Registrar (Locum) will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care in their designated specialty. The role involves both clinical and academic responsibilities, contributing to the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients. This position may also require participation in teaching junior doctors and other healthcare staff, as well as involvement in quality improvement and research activities. Specialties Available This role is open to locum positions across a variety of specialties, including but not limited to: General Medicine General Surgery Emergency Medicine Cardiology Gastroenterology Neurology Respiratory Medicine Endocrinology and Diabetes Rheumatology Nephrology Hematology Oncology Paediatrics Obstetrics and Gynaecology Orthopaedics ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) Ophthalmology Anaesthesia Critical Care/Intensive Care Psychiatry Public Health Medicine Dermatology Urology Plastic Surgery Vascular Surgery Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties Provide safe, effective, and compassionate care to patients. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, diagnoses, and treatments. Lead and participate in ward rounds, clinics, and theatre lists (if applicable). Ensure timely and accurate documentation of patient records. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans. Participate in on-call duties as required. Teaching and Mentorship Provide teaching and supervision to junior doctors, medical students, and nursing staff. Contribute to case discussions and educational meetings. Research and Quality Improvement Engage in clinical audits and quality improvement projects. Contribute to or lead research activities within the department. Compliance and Governance Adhere to NHS standards, policies, and clinical guidelines. Ensure compliance with General Medical Council (GMC) registration requirements. Actively participate in departmental meetings and appraisal processes. Requirements MBBS or equivalent medical degree. Full GMC registration with a license to practice in the UK. Completion of Core Medical Training (CMT) or equivalent. Experience Minimum of 2 years of postgraduate experience in the relevant specialty (ST3 level or above). Evidence of working in the UK healthcare system (preferred). Skills and Knowledge Strong clinical knowledge and experience in the designated specialty. Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills. Proficiency in managing acutely unwell patients. Desirable Attributes Experience in teaching and mentoring junior staff. Engagement in research or quality improvement projects. Advanced Life Support (ALS) or equivalent certification (mandatory for certain specialties). Additional Requirements Right to work in the UK.
