Specialist Smoke Vent (AOV) Engineer £32000 - £50000/annum Location: London/ Surrey Leading facilities management and building services company have an immediate need for a Specialist Smoke Vent Engineer (Automatic Opening Vents/ AOVs). Job Overview: We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Smoke Vent Engineer to join our team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and functionality of smoke ventilation systems in various structures. Your expertise will be instrumental in installing, inspecting, and maintaining smoke vent systems to meet stringent safety standards and regulations. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with service team to ensure that systems are maintained according to our planner. Oversee the installation of smoke vents, coordinating with contractors to ensure accurate implementation of design specifications. You will be working Monday through to Fridays and be onsite for standard business hours which may require early starts and occasional overnight stays. Conduct comprehensive inspections of existing smoke vent systems. Perform functional tests to ensure proper operation of smoke vents during both regular and emergency conditions. Document and report findings, recommending necessary adjustments, repairs, or replacements. Develop and implement routine maintenance programs for smoke vent systems to prevent malfunctions. Respond promptly to service requests for smoke vent repairs or replacements. Collaborate with maintenance teams to integrate smoke vent inspections into preventive maintenance schedules. Stay current with national fire safety codes and regulations related to smoke ventilation. Ensure that smoke vent systems are in compliance with all relevant standards. Provide guidance to clients and colleagues on compliance issues related to smoke vent engineering. Conduct training sessions for facility management and maintenance staff on smoke vent system operation, maintenance, and emergency protocols. Stay informed about advancements in smoke vent technology and share knowledge with the team. Attend emergency call outs, responding promptly to address smoke vent-related issues. Collaborate with emergency response teams to ensure the functionality of smoke ventilation systems during critical situations. Qualifications: 5+ years of experience as a Split/VRV engineer. Strong knowledge of air conditioning systems and technology. Valid F Gas certification. Service checker experience (desirable, but not essential as training is available). Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong attention to detail. Proven ability to multitask and prioritize. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with all levels of management. Valid driver’s license. Benefits: 23 days paid holiday plus bank holidays. Company van, Fuel Card.
