To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing evidence-based speech and language therapy assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for the acute SLT caseload. Develop knowledge and skills in specialist areas undertaking role competency frameworks under supervision. To mentor and line manage junior members of staff.

Main duties of the job
You will need to have completed your dysphagia competencies and be able to demonstrate that you have been working independently with a dysphagia caseload, including acute stroke, for a minimum of 9 months. You will need to have completed your NQP framework and be able to evidence you are managing patients with more complex dysphagia/communication impairment with minimal support. You will have ideally undertaken your placement educator training and therefore be in a position to take students on clinical placement.
You will enjoy daily contact with a friendly team of SLT colleagues as well as close contact with other members of the multidisciplinary team. You will be supported in all aspects of this varied job role, and we actively encourage CPD, hold regular team meetings and discussion groups, and look at ways to further develop our services. There is also the opportunity to gain competencies in videofluoroscopy, tracheostomy, and leadership.
