We are recruiting for a fixed term, maternity leave cover Band 6 within the Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy team in St Helens. You will be responsible for ensuring service users’ needs are met through delivery of high-quality care, working collaboratively in a variety of settings including patients' homes, schools, nurseries, children’s centres & clinics. You will provide assessment & appropriate interventions in the management of paediatric conditions, offering a range of 1:1 & group-based interventions, training, and programmes of care. Caseloads are likely to include children and young people with a range of speech, language, and communication needs. This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check. Undertake assessment in a variety of clinical settings. Evaluate patient progress, reassess and alter treatment programmes seeking support from senior colleagues within the team. Plan and organise your patient/client caseload and non-patient responsibilities efficiently. Contribute to the continuing professional development within the team. CLINICAL
Utilise a variety of assessment tools and interpret these appropriately. Implement care/intervention based on research and demonstrate evidence-based practice. Maintain an early years and school-aged caseload. Provide professional clinical advice and demonstrate intervention approaches to patients, carers, and colleagues within education. COMMUNICATION
Communicate effectively with patients and carers to maximise potential and ensure understanding of their condition and goals. Communicate effectively with all those involved in patient care, including report writing and referrals to other agencies. Person specification
QUALIFICATIONS
Accredited Speech and Language Therapy qualification (BSc) Registration with relevant Registering Body e.g. HCPC Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) EXPERIENCE
Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Experience with the provision of supervision and delegation to junior members of staff. Experience of working in mainstream schools and specialist provisions. SKILLS
Good time management and organizational skills. Flexible approach towards service change and demands. OTHER
