We are delighted to offer an opportunity for a dynamic Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly team at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM). We are also very happy to consider applications from experienced Band 5 therapists who are completing dysphagia competencies. The post is based at Royal Stoke University Hospital and involves working collaboratively with wider teams across several disciplines on the bustling acute wards. Our combined goal is to provide an excellent standard of care across all pathways, with patient welfare being at the heart of everything we do. Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide Speech and Language Therapy services across the inpatient settings of Royal Stoke and County Hospital. This dynamic post requires the post holder to manage a varied caseload, including dysphagia and disorders of communication, and work closely with uni/multi-disciplinary teams/agencies in addressing a range of care/support issues across the spectrum of conditions, facilitating safe and effective early discharge and improving the health and wellbeing of the population served. Key responsibilities include: Be competent in the assessment and management of inpatients with dysphagia across all acute ward areas at RSUH and County Hospital. Be skilled in the assessment of communication and the implementation and evaluation of care/support packages. Demonstrate initiative and autonomy while being creative in finding solutions to problems. Fulfil supervisory responsibilities as required. Support service development as part of the wider SLT team. Person Specification

Experience

Assessment and management of patients with complex communication and swallowing disorders. Experience working within the NHS. Experience working within a hospital setting. Effective working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to prioritise a clinical caseload safely and delegate to other team members appropriately. Experience in instrumental assessment of dysphagia, i.e., VF or FEES. Qualifications

Degree in Speech and Language Therapy. Registration with HCPC. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
