Brent Mainstream Schools Team We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapists to join the Mainstream Schools Team. Therapists work closely with school staff to support children and young people with a range of speech, language, and communication needs in schools. Main duties of the job

We provide SLT to children and young people with SEN support and EHCPs in Brent primary schools, secondary and FE Colleges. Your role would include: The assessment of CYP with a range of speech, language and communication needs including DLD, ASD, speech sound difficulties, and selective mutism. Working directly with children in groups and individually, as well as offering advice and strategies to school staff and parents. Liaising with parents and other professionals. Providing training for your allocated schools. Working for our organisation

Education/Qualification

Degree or equivalent and Licence to Practice – Royal College of Speech/Language Therapists. Current registered membership of HPC and RCSLT. Experience

Working with children with a wide range of speech, language and communication difficulties – including ASD, DLD, selective mutism, and speech sound disorders. Collaborative work with parents and other professionals, especially teachers in a school setting. Training others. Postgraduate experience of working with children. Working in a multi-cultural community. Skills & Knowledge

Normal Child Development including Speech and Language, Play, and other milestones. Knowledge of appropriate range of assessments and interventions for pre-school & school-aged children with speech, language, and communication impairments. Knowledge of specific assessments and interventions within specialist area. Education Practice and Policy and National Curriculum & Early Years Curriculum. Religious, Cultural and Linguistic issues impacting upon caseload management. Principles and models of Adult/Child Interaction. Knowledge of national policies and procedures (especially Education Act). Understanding of the roles of other professionals (relevant to the client group). Knowledge of professional standards of record keeping. Holistic view of communication problems in the context of education. Knowledge of collaborative models of working in schools. Key Attributes
