We are looking for a skilled and experienced Physiotherapist to join our Surgical team at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust.

This post is fully supported by the Clinical lead Physiotherapist.

This is a full-time post working 37.5 hours per week, and part-time hours may be considered. This role may be considered as a secondment. This role includes flexible working across 7 days participation in our weekend and respiratory on-call service.

Main duties of the job

To provide a high standard Physiotherapy service to patients at Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust. To provide Specialist assessment, treatment and goal setting with patients following surgical interventions with complex presentations and/or co-morbidities, including amputation prehabilitation and rehabilitation to include pathway management and developments. To develop the Physiotherapy service provision for surgical patients, research and implement innovative ways of working, including prehabilitation. To develop relationships and working practices on the surgical wards to optimise input at the appropriate time for the unique presentations of these patients. To provide Specialist knowledge and assessment to ear, nose, throat patients with tracheostomies and laryngectomies. To maintain records as an autonomous practitioner. To promote safe discharge and promote patient flow. To develop highly specialist skills under the guidance of the Senior staff. To attend clinical level discussions/meetings related to your area of work as delegated by the Team Lead.

Qualifications

Essential

Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent HCPC registered

Desirable

Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Membership of appropriate clinical interest groups

Experience

Essential

Comprehensive experience in an acute hospital setting, including a range of post qualification rotations at Band 5 and Band 6 level Experience of working within a range of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams, including evidence of collaboration with other organizations Experience of working in an acute healthcare setting Experience of working in a team of people including qualified and unqualified staff

Practical and Intellectual skills

Essential

Up to date clinical skills and specialist level assessment skills Well-developed communication skills- empathy, compassion, negotiation and motivation Reflective practitioner with portfolio evidence to support this

Desirable

Evidence of post graduate education and development

Disposition/attitude

Essential

Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Able to work in highly stressful situations including the ability to manage distressing and highly emotive situations successfully Able to concentrate for long periods, including during patient treatments (for 20+ minutes). Able to work with frequent interruptions. Keen to share knowledge and training across all health care professionals
