This is a full-time post, primarily within the Department of Anaesthetics at both Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Hospital. The successful candidate will work on either site according to service needs, providing excellent experience in a District General Hospital setting. The successful appointee will participate in audit, service improvement, and quality initiatives supporting departmental development. An Educational Supervisor will be allocated for professional development, with a weekly protected half-day teaching session covering clinical and managerial topics. Full-time posts are offered, but candidates wishing to work less than full-time are encouraged to apply. Main duties of the job
Participate in the ICU/anaesthesia on-call rota, either at Calderdale or Huddersfield. Provide anaesthesia for elective and acute surgery in-hours with appropriate supervision. Participate in teaching, audit, and governance programmes. Keep up to date with Trust mandatory training requirements. Undergo annual appraisal & undertake appropriate professional activity for GMC revalidation. Maintain confidentiality of information. Follow health and safety responsibilities in accordance with Trust policies. Undertake other duties as directed by the Consultants. Person specification
Qualifications
MRCP/FRCA primary or equivalent. Full Registration with the General Medical Council and hold a Licence to Practise. Experience and Achievements
4 years postgraduate experience including 2 years within Anaesthetics. High level of clinical experience and competence in Anaesthetics. Understanding current issues within Anaesthetics and the NHS. Attendance at a recognised management course. Ability to lead across professions. Teaching and Training
Experience and enthusiasm for teaching postgraduate doctors and non-medical staff. Academic achievements/evidence of familiarity with research methods. Training in clinical and educational supervision. Attendance at a teaching course. Formal qualification in teaching/education. Audit and Research
Knowledge of Audit principles and evidence of participation in audit projects. Critical Appraisal Skills. Knowledge of research methodology. Good communication and empathy skills. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to manage high-pressure situations. Ability to prioritise and organise workload. General
Eligibility to work in the UK. Ability to work in various locations throughout the network of services. Enhanced DBS disclosure required.
