This post involves working within both the inpatient and outpatient settings, across the whole range of mental health services within the Trust. The post holder provides medical support to the mental health team working under the supervision of a senior psychiatrist. Practitioners should be prepared to perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances without additional remuneration but may be granted time off in lieu at the discretion of the Trust. Commitments arising in such circumstances are, however, exceptional and practitioners should not be required to undertake work of this kind for prolonged periods or on a regular basis. Qualifications
Recognised basic Medical Degree. Full GMC Registration with license to practice. Section 12(2) approved. Experience
4 years of full-time postgraduate training or equivalent experience, with at least 2 years in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty. Previous experience of working in psychiatry. Excellent knowledge in specialty and clinical skills using biopsychosocial perspective. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty. Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and delegate appropriately. Experience of crisis, inpatient, or community mental health team care for adults. Additional Criteria
Ability to take a full Psychiatric history, mental state, and physical examination of patients. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Competent to work without direct supervision. Knowledge of different models of care. Ability to deal effectively with stress. Reliable, honest, and flexible approach to working practice. Ability to fulfil the travelling commitment of the post. Satisfactory DBS enhanced disclosure and Health check. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
