Specialty Doctor in Eldercare

at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust.

We are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic individuals who are interested in assisting with the expansion of the Older Person’s Service from the Royal Cornwall Hospital in all localities in Cornwall.

The Cornwall Frailty Pathway and Stroke Services are undergoing rapid changes following significant investment. New opportunities to work sessions across the system from acute hospitals to community hospitals are available in any area of interest.

The posts are supported by a large, friendly, and progressive Older Person’s Service that is forward-thinking, passionate, and caring. The consultant team works alongside our exceptional team of nurses, allied health professionals, community partners, and old age psychiatrists to deliver the very best multi-disciplinary care to our community. The department is dedicated to providing a first-class service where the patient and relatives come first.

The Eldercare team is dedicated to providing a first-class service where the patient and relatives come first. The team takes a proactive approach to teaching and innovation as well as collaboration with partners in the community and primary care - your chance to take a lead in forging pioneering new approaches in the care of older people.

The post holder will provide clinical cover for the in-patient wards and will also work as an integral part of a Front Door Frailty Team in the Emergency Department. Patients have a range of needs from simple rehabilitation to higher acuity and dependency.

The post holder will require strong communication skills and will be required to work closely with both acute geriatrician teams and the primary and community locality teams, supporting advanced care planning and care pathways for the patients, carers, and their families.

The role will provide clinical support and leadership to the multi-disciplinary team as well as supervision to junior medical staff. An aptitude for teaching or previous trainer status would be highly desirable.

We work with health and social care organisations, including NHS Kernow and NHS England, to ensure local healthcare needs are met. We provide acute medical, surgical, and specialist services to around 500,000 people, which can increase significantly during busy holiday periods.

The Trust has teaching hospital status as part of the University of Exeter Medical School. Keeping at the forefront of medical advances, we continually develop clinical services and are committed to maximizing the range of specialist care offered locally.

We can offer you a rewarding career in a supportive working environment. We have extensive educational links to help you realize your full potential and develop skills to provide outstanding healthcare to the local community.

Enjoy an outstanding quality of life in a place that offers surfing beaches, fishing harbours, beautiful countryside, and historic towns.
