Axcis are working with an alternative provision college in Exeter who create high-quality education and exemplary pastoral care to students with SEMH, anxiety, and SEND needs including, students with large gaps in their schooling. An opportunity has arisen for a Speech and Language Therapist with a passion to support young adults at the college. You will be committed to making a positive difference to young people’s lives. As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will be working alongside counsellors and student support workers to deliver social skill sessions, and direct and indirect therapy. The students come to the college with goals for their future, whether that be an artist, chef or bus driver. They create personal curriculums including maths and English as well as completing apprentice schemes, community projects and providing counseling, key skill exams, 1-1 LSA's and therapy sessions. We are looking to appoint a flexible, adaptable, and dedicated individual with experience in working with pupils with SpLD and some SEMH difficulties as a result of their barriers to learning. This role is flexible depending on the numbers of students referrals with SpLD needs, this may be full or part time. The daily hours are 9:00 - 4:00, however you may complete a full day or hourly sessions with the counselling team. The hourly rate is from £35 - £45 depending on experience and qualifications. The role starts in September. The successful candidate will need to be motivated and enthusiastic. You will be an integral member of the team. Key skills and requirements:

To be a registered Speech and Language Therapist, or hold qualifications but are new to the profession Experience or knowledge of SEMH, MLD and co-occurring difficulties and autistic spectrum condition Ideally have some experience of running social communication groups Have the ability to work as an integral member of a team that puts the pupils learning and wellbeing at the center If you are interested, then please contact Kirsty Chisholm on 01392 949 022 | Ext: 6002 and click on the apply button.
