Speech and Language Therapist Job Vacancy Horsham, West Sussex Part-Time, Term Time Only Benefits: Salary: £37,700 - £46,000 per annum FTE, £18,300 - £22,000 Actual Salary. Working Hours: 22.5 hours per week. Term Time Only, plus 5 days. Monday – Friday, 7.5 – 8 hours per day. Contract: Permanent. Pension Scheme, Health Care Plan, Blue Light Card. Your Role: As a Speech & Language Therapist in a Residential School supporting children with a range of neurological and medical needs, you will play a crucial role in developing and delivering effective communication strategies. Your work will directly support the students’ education, learning, and personal development. Duties: Plan and deliver tailored communication strategies to support student learning. Implement agreed aims and programmes as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Share expertise in specific areas, such as AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication). Contribute to budget planning and funding recommendations. Ensure resources promote independence, curriculum delivery, and maintain high standards of care. Collaborate on group/individual communication programmes. Oversee the integration of communication strategies across the school curriculum. Assess, plan, and implement AAC pathways for students requiring support. Develop AAC resources and guide others in their use. Provide assessments of communication and oral skills. Model good practices in facilitating communication, eating, and drinking. Implement and monitor eating and drinking policies in collaboration with the team. Support the development of the communication curriculum with the School Development Plan. Write high-quality reports and contribute to reviews, liaising with families and external services. Ensure a safe, hygienic, and well-presented environment. Participate in staff training and share professional knowledge. Criteria: Recognized Speech & Language Therapist qualification (RCSLT & HCPC). Registration with RCSLT and HCPC. Basic knowledge of Dysphagia. Experience working with children or young people. Awareness of data protection and safeguarding practices. Compliance: Successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment safeguarding checks, including an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, so all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) must be declared.
