Are you an experienced and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist looking to join our innovative service supporting adults in the community? You will provide specialist speech and language therapy to people with a range of complex medical conditions/social needs and associated problems, completing visits in patients' homes and outpatient clinics. You will receive one-to-one clinical support, professional development, and regular supervision, giving you the opportunity to further develop your skills in a variety of clinical areas such as our weekly Videofluoroscopy clinic and dysphagia management. You will be working alongside wider multi-disciplinary teams within community services, which is made up of Physiotherapy, Community Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Social Workers. You will also work with colleagues from a variety of other agencies. Please note: this is a full-time post. Main duties of the job

You will engage in clinical triage of new referrals, using advanced clinical reasoning and interpretation skills to analyze complex clinical and non-clinical information to prioritize clinical urgency. You will complete assessments of swallowing and communication disorders as required, contributing to patient diagnoses and recommending the most appropriate SaLT interventions. You will communicate sensitively and effectively with patients and/or carers to promote understanding and ensure inclusion in decision-making wherever possible. You will take responsibility for your own caseload in line with your experience and competence, ensuring you reflect and evaluate your own practice and participate in supervision with colleagues. Working for our organisation

MFT is one of the largest NHS Trusts in England with a turnover of £2.8bn and is on a different scale than most other NHS Trusts. We’re creating an exceptional integrated health and social care system for the 1 million patients who rely on our services every year. We’ve also created a digitally enabled organisation to improve clinical quality, patient and staff experience, operational effectiveness, and driving research and innovation through the introduction of Hive; our Electronic Patient Record system which launched in September 2022. We’re proud to be a major academic Research Centre and Education provider, providing you with a robust infrastructure to encourage and facilitate high-quality research programmes. What’s more, we’re excited to be embarking on our Green Plan which sets out how MFT continues to play its part in making healthcare more sustainable.
