Job Summary: We are seeking a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) with experience in; mainstream schools, community clinic with a wide range of communication difficulties. Interest in working with Autistic Children and their families would be desirable but not essential.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and providing therapy to children and young people who have communication difficulties.
This role is for 5 days per week term time only in the North Nottinghamshire and Chesterfield areas. There may be opportunities for further clinic based work in the summer holiday. This contract is fixed term until end of July 2025 but highly likely to be extended.
Responsibilities:
Conducting comprehensive assessments of speech, language, communication and social skills of children and young people.
Developing individualised therapy plans and programmes to meet the specific needs of each child or young person.
Providing speech and language therapy sessions, both individual and group, in a school setting.
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of therapy interventions and making adjustments as required.
Providing advice and training to parents, caregivers, and other professionals involved in the care of children and young people with communication needs.
Collaborating with other professionals such as educational psychologists, occupational therapists, and behavioural specialists to provide a multidisciplinary approach to care.
Maintaining up-to-date records and preparing reports as required.
Participating in regular team meetings and clinical supervision sessions.
Staying up-to-date with the latest research, trends, and best practices in speech and language therapy, Autism and SEMH.
Requirements:
A degree in Speech and Language Therapy and relevant professional registration (e.g. HCPC).
A minimum of 1 year of experience working with children and young people with varied communication needs, as well as Autism
Experience of working within a school setting
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Valid driving license and access to own transport.
Eligibility to work in the UK.
