Smart Education is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to join a specialist school supporting students aged 2–19 with complex social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH), autism, ADHD, PDA, anxiety, and developmental trauma.

Role Overview As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will collaborate with the whole school team to deliver personalised assessments and interventions. You will work creatively across universal, targeted, and specialist levels, using evidence-based approaches to address the individual needs of students.

Key Responsibilities

Manage your own caseload, ensuring coverage of EHCP targets and student needs. Develop and implement Total Communication strategies, including AAC (high and low tech). Conduct informal and formal assessments and deliver 1:1, group, and class-based interventions. Support the application of Zones of Regulation throughout the school. Offer evidence and support for Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) targets and educational tribunals. Build and nurture solid working relationships with staff and students. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and parents/carers to ensure a holistic approach. Reflect and develop practices through protected time for liaison and continuous professional development.

Requirements

Membership with HCPC and RCSLT. BA or BSc in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent. Experience working with autism, learning difficulties, and SEMH needs. Strong communication and organisational skills with a flexible and professional approach.
