We are looking for a senior Speech and language Therapist for a busy council in South Yorkshire.
Pay Rate- £56.74 Per Hour
Main Purpose of role
To take responsibility, with supervision from an experienced Speech & Language Therapist, for the provision of assessment, diagnosis, and intervention of caseloads of students in a range of settings including specialist education and work experience settings.
To develop skills and abilities in the delivery of speech and language therapy and the ability to reflect on clinical practice with the support of senior and specialist colleagues.
To provide a service which takes account of the needs of students from a range of ethnic and linguistic backgrounds.
To explain/raise awareness and understanding of the role of speech and language therapists to college staff, visitors, students and volunteers, other health professionals, carers, and students.
Duties and Responsibilities
- To manage a caseload of students, post 16 with ASD, learning disabilities and speech and language difficulties independently, completing assessments, annual reviews, writing individual programmes, implementing groups, providing advice and resources and reviewing outcomes with a curriculum and functional based focus. There will be the opportunity to learn these skills on the job, from a specialist Speech & Language Therapist.
- To demonstrate clinical effectiveness drawing on evidence-based practice and outcome measures
- Assist in providing training to other staff and take part in multi-disciplinary training as appropriate.
- To work via teaching assistants, tutors, families and carers to achieve outcomes for individual students, providing support, programmes, ideas, advice and assessment.
- To take part in developing a curriculum that can integrate Speech & Language Therapy intervention into meaningful and interesting sessions for the students.
Job Details below;
- Looking for 2 days a week - ideally Tuesdays and Thursdays or Tuesdays and Wednesdays. There is a degree of flexibility, but Tuesday has to be the main working day.
- Will look for candidates who would have 2+ years' experience and are registered, licenced to practice, and registered with the royal collage
- Offering intervention to Individual’s but also group work and advice and guidance to tutors as well as. Would be 8-10 class size
