Main area: Speech & Language Therapy Adults Community Grade: Band 5 Contract: Permanent Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week Job ref: 371-CHS882-B Site: Upton Hospital Town: Slough Salary: £31,469 - £47,084 per annum (inc. of HCAS) Salary period: Yearly Closing: 05/02/2025 23:59 The BHFT Community Adult Speech and Language Therapy team has an exciting opportunity for a full-time developing band 5/6 to work in our service. We are based across East and West Berkshire; your base will be determined by service need and can be flexible, though occasionally we may need you to work at other sites or attend meetings within the locality. We are looking for someone who is either an NQP or a qualified Band 5 or Band 6 clinician with experience, motivation, and a desire to be part of a growing and enthusiastic team. For newly qualified staff, you will work your way through our Preceptorship programme over the first year of employment, which will help you make this transition and consolidate all the skills and knowledge gained throughout your training. Following this, we will support you to ensure you develop skills and complete necessary NQP and Band 6 competencies to move into a band 6 role within the team. It is a completely adult caseload and is fully supported by experienced SLTs. You will be closely supported to sign off your NQP and dysphagia competencies and eventually move on to completing Band 6 competencies. We encourage our team to engage in regular CPD, and LVST training is offered in the first year. Main duties of the job

Working with clients with acquired disorders (e.g., PD, Stroke) Providing advice to clients/carers regarding the management and care of communication and swallowing difficulties. Using online record systems (RiO) to document notes and reports Group and 1-1 working with clients Actively participating in team meetings, CPD, and peer supervision Working flexibly in response to service needs across multiple sites Liaising with the team for support on a day-to-day basis Providing a service in all community settings including out-patients clinics, home visits, nursing homes, and telehealth Working for our organisation

Education/Qualifications/Training

Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Member of The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) Member of relevant Special Interest Groups Continuous Professional Development

Evidence of independent or post-graduate study through CPD portfolio Previous Experience

Experience in evaluating own practice Previous experience working with/interest in and commitment to working with adults with acquired neurological conditions Awareness of the challenges of community working Experience of working independently and within teams Experience with telehealth as a delivery of assessment/therapy Experience of multi-disciplinary team working Experience of working in community and/or neurology settings Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Able to demonstrate commitment to BHFT values (caring, committed, together) Excellent interpersonal skills – including observation, active listening, empathy, negotiation, and influencing Established knowledge of a broad range of assessment and intervention tools relevant to clinical area Knowledge of supported communication and AAC systems Excellent time-management and organisational skills Prioritization skills, in relation to caseload management Knowledge of national policies and legal frameworks Additional Requirements
