The Hounslow Speech and Language Therapy Team are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative therapist to join as a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) working with our Deaf/Hard of hearing caseload. The service provides SaLT to babies, children and young people who are Deaf/Hard of hearing across the Preschool Team, Mainstream Schools Team and in Specialist Deaf Centres in Hounslow. A team of highly skilled and genuinely supportive colleagues Main duties of the job

To deliver specialist clinical decision-making, including assessment, differential diagnosis, treatment, evaluation and general independent management of a diverse and highly complex caseload. To be accountable for the development, delivery and quality of services for children with speech, language and communication needs by ensuring that the service is effective, well-co-ordinated and responsive to changing needs. To be responsible for providing specialist knowledge/training/advice in specialist field providing second opinions, clinical supervision and working with students, volunteers and assistants. To deliver specialist training to the therapy team as well as to a range of professionals as appropriate. To ensure effective joint working practice between own service, other speech and language therapists and other relevant professionals in the fields of health, education, the voluntary sector, social services. To maintain an up-to-date, advanced level of theoretical knowledge and therapeutic evidence-based practice through Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities, reading, clinical excellence networks (CENs) and external training courses. Knowledge

Ability to write clear concise reports (including contribution to the EHCNA or Annual Review process). Advanced knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools relevant to the client group Well established knowledge of national policies and procedures (relevant to the client group/s) Advanced knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions (relevant to client group/s) Well established knowledge of the principles of clinical governance/audit Well established knowledge of the roles of other professionals (relevant to the client group) Well established knowledge of standards of record keeping Experience training a range of professionals in specialist field Experience leading a team of therapists involved in specific projects Qualifications

Degree / diploma or other professional Speech and Language Therapy qualification Registered with HCPC Registered with RCSLT Demonstrates interest in a specialist clinical area Membership of relevant Special Interest Group or equivalent Experience

Experience of carrying out specialist assessments and intervention Experience of working within a multi-agency/disciplinary team Experience training a range of professionals Skills
