Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities Clinical

To provide a comprehensive clinical service to the Emergency department. To cover a full shift roster in the Emergency Department with a balanced mix of earlies, lates and nights. To contribute to the delivery of departmental, trust and national objectives. Organisational

Teaching and training of junior staff, medical students and other healthcare professionals. To act as clinical/educational supervisor to locally employed doctors and doctors in training programmes of a variety of grades and experience as appropriate. To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit. To provide leadership and support for the effective development of the service. To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD). To further develop clinical protocols, guidelines, and concise care bundles. To carry out responsibilities with due regard to the Trust's Equal Opportunities Policy. To be aware of the responsibility of all employees to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff and attend all relevant health and safety training. To ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard. To carry out annual performance reviews with each member of their staff. To agree annual personal development plans with their staff and support them with any training or development requirements to fulfil their role. To attend all relevant management training in health and safety, risk assessment etc. To participate in personal objective setting and review, including the creation of a personal development plan and the Trust's appraisal process. Qualifications

Essential Criteria

MBBS or equivalent medical qualification. Advanced Life Support (ALS) or be in the process of acquiring within a grace period of starting. Desirable Criteria

Completed specialist skills courses (e.g. difficult airways, ATLS/APLS, ultrasound course, etc) MRCEM or FRCEM primary and intermediate Experience

Essential Criteria

Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC). Achieved the competences equivalent to that of a trainee who has completed UK foundation, ST1 and ST2 training or equivalent experience. Desirable Criteria

Experience of working in ACCS specialties ie. ITU/Anesthetics/Acute Medicine. Advanced procedural competences, such as chest drains, ascitic drains and lumbar punctures. Evidence of supervision or training of junior doctors. Essential Criteria

Experience in NHS acute and general medicine at ST2 or equivalent level for at least 12 months. Management of medical admissions at ST3 level.
