Main duties of the job Main duties of the job include (but are not limited to): Admit, assess and implement a plan of care for patients attending the unit. As a nurse-led unit, we are expected to assess a patient's suitability to receive treatment, complete pre-treatment checks and highlight any contraindications to treatment if necessary. Undertake tasks such as cannulation, venepuncture and catheterization (TWOC clinic). Training available as required. Medication management including preparation, and administration. Manage blood transfusions, immunotherapy and biological treatments, understanding the adverse reactions associated with these treatments. Recognize emergency situations such as anaphylaxis, sepsis and manage appropriately. Supervise health care support workers, students and junior doctors and actively participate in their ongoing education and development. Assist and maintain a safe working environment. Work collaboratively within the hospital and the trust to ensure a smooth referral process allowing patients to be treated within their local area. Maintain accurate and clear documentation relating to patient admissions.
