We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Staff Nurse for 37.5 hours per week to cover a maternity leave for 12 months. The working hours would be Monday-Sunday day shifts and night shifts on internal rotation.

You will be based on Aspull ward at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary. The ward is a 28 bedded unit based on the acute site.

Candidates will only be shortlisted if they have a valid NMC registration.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate's duties and responsibilities will be to:

Manage a bay of patients pre and post operative. Create and implement care plans. Administer medication, dressings and wound care and communicate with the MDT.

Essential

Speak English to an appropriate standard relevant to their role, i.e. with confidence and accuracy, using correct sentence structures and vocabulary, and without hesitation. Flexible and positive approach to work.

Knowledge

Essential

Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues. Knowledge of evidence based practice. Understanding of research/audit.

Desirable

Understanding of resource management. Understanding of education/student requirements.

Skills

Essential

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to maintain and improve standards of care. Ability to challenge unacceptable behaviour or practice in a professional context.

Desirable

Basic computer skills.

Experience

Essential

Experience in the relevant speciality of which you are applying. Experience of working independently and as a member of a team.

Desirable

Experience of clinical supervision. Experience of audit research. Previous experience in a caring environment. Post qualification experience.

Qualifications

RGN. Recent evidence of continuing professional development.

Desirable

Teaching and Assessing Course. Degree/Diploma Studies. Specialists Skills Course.
