We are seeking a motivated registered Nurse to join our team.

We are an 8 bedded unit offering experience in Cardiology. We also run the acute NIV service for West Cumbria Patients.

You should be highly committed to best practice and be able to work in a team environment, and have outstanding communication skills.

Main duties of the job

Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate nursing care, providing the prescribed nursing care without supervision. Contribute to the development and evaluation of nursing practice in the unit.

Support Patients, and their families, during their diagnosis and treatment.

Liaise with other departments both at WCH and CIC to ensure the safe transfer of the Patients.

The Trust will provide a twelve month preceptorship period for all newly registered healthcare professionals.

Healthcare Professionals returning to practice, moving into new roles or changing clinical environments, may access an agreed preceptorship period.

The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows

if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Nurse adult with active NMC registration or working towards

Desirable

ILS or Equivalent Relevant post-registration development.

Experience

Essential

Student nurse or general nursing within the NHS or equivalent.

Desirable

Coronary Care experience. Supporting students. NIV experience.

Knowledge

Essential

NMC code of professional conduct. Knowledge of safeguarding issues.

Desirable

Cardiology knowledge.

Skills and Aptitudes

Essential

Ability to work as a member of a team, without close supervision. Ability to demonstrate the compassionate values and behaviours needed for dignified care. Teaching skills. Able to adapt to changing workload and work to meet deadlines. Ability to act as a mentor to HCAs. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
