Our emergency department has expanded and has recently had a £3.5 million investment to upgrade facilities and create more emergency cubicles. We are looking to recruit professional and enthusiastic Band 5 staff nurses, preferably with band 5 experience in an Acute Care setting. The department has 5 resuscitation beds, and 23 major treatment cubicles. We also have a dedicated mental health assessment room. We are co-located with an Urgent Care Treatment centre who deal with minor injuries and illnesses, and between the two departments we attend to around 14,000 patients each month. There are currently 79 staff in the Adult ED and 30 staff in the paediatric department with a further 30 staff in Urgent Care.

Main duties of the job We take great pride in being part of a top performing Trust and Top performing Emergency Department. We are looking for nurses who are motivated, enthusiastic and can demonstrate at interview a kind and compassionate attitude along with a desire to provide effective and efficient emergency care. With strong nursing leadership, a dedicated ED Matron and a newly appointed Clinical Educator to guide and support you in conjunction with an allocated 'buddy'. We provide high quality emergency care and give structured support and development to all our nurses including a tailored induction at the start, a period of supernumerary status tailored to every individual's needs. You will be given a structured orientation to meet your individual needs to develop as an ED nurse.

Job description Job responsibilities As part of the team, you will develop a plethora of skills and will be supported in attending training for these courses which may include: Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paediatric Intermediate Life Support (PILS) Plaster of Paris course Resuscitation skills (including Non-Invasive Ventilation) Manchester Triage Immediate Life Support (ILS) You will also develop confidence and competence of your clinical skills in areas such as venepuncture, cannulation & catheterisation. You will have the opportunity to work in all areas of the Emergency Department once you feel confident and competent.
