Staff Nurse – Endoscopy

An opportunity has arisen for a well-motivated individual to join our Endoscopy Team at The Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced dynamic working environment with the prospect of advancement in this growing speciality.

Main duties of the job

We require excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will ideally have a genuine interest in endoscopy and the ability to understand and operate technical equipment.

Endoscopy experience is desirable but not essential as there is a comprehensive in-house training programme available where you will work with senior members of the team.

We currently have three endoscopy rooms where we undertake approximately 10,000 procedures a year which include upper and lower GI Endoscopy, ERCP's and Bronchoscopy.

We have JAG accreditation and take part in the national bowel cancer screening programme. You will work with the endoscopy team to provide safe, effective and high-quality patient care maintaining standards that meet the requirements of JAG, the GRS and the CQC.

Job responsibilities

Once your pre-employment checks have been completed, you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions.

Following your Corporate Induction, you will be expected to attend the Trust's 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email mtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.net if this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions, and e-learning.

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at Enhanced Level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children).

Qualifications

Essential

First level registered Staff Nurse

Desirable

Evidence of further education since qualification e.g. diploma/degree Specialist course in Endoscopy Advance Life Support provider NVQ assessor

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

Proficient clinician and clinical role model Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the NHS Demonstrates a commitment to professional development

Desirable

Experience at Band 5 or equivalent in an acute setting Understanding of audit and benchmarking processes
