We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic experienced Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our female acute inpatient unit, Becklin Ward 1. In this role, you will provide comprehensive care to women experiencing acute mental health issues. Your responsibilities will include administering medications, developing individualized care plans, and working closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care. Strong communication skills, a compassionate approach, and a commitment to improving patient outcomes are essential. Working as part of a multi-skilled, experienced, motivated and creative service, you will be responsible for contributing to the efficient day to day delivery of effective clinical care and risk management of the women within the ward. You will have great interpersonal skills and be able to establish a professional working relationship with service users, carers and families. You will be cool in a crisis; it's a busy clinical area and we manage lots of risk-taking behaviour including deliberate self-harm and management of violence and aggression. It is a demanding yet rewarding role. As a Mental Health Staff Nurse on our female acute inpatient unit, you will: Provide direct patient care, including administering medications and monitoring patient progress. Develop and implement individualised care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Offer emotional support and therapeutic interventions to patients experiencing acute mental health crises. Maintain accurate patient records. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of care practices. Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment options. Becklin is made up of 4 acute wards (2 male and 2 female), along with a Crisis Assessment Unit. Becklin ward 1 is a 22 bed female acute inpatient ward, part of the Women’s service along with Ward 5. As a Mental Health Staff Nurse on our female acute inpatient unit, your main duties and responsibilities will include: Patient Care: Provide high-quality, compassionate care to female patients experiencing acute mental health crises. Administer medications, monitor patient progress, and respond to any changes in their condition. Care Planning: Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, their families, and the multidisciplinary team. Therapeutic Interventions: Deliver therapeutic interventions, including one-on-one support and group therapy sessions, to help patients manage their mental health conditions. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring all documentation meets legal and regulatory standards. Team Collaboration: Work closely with doctors, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care. Participate in team meetings and case conferences. Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies. Safety and Compliance: Ensure a safe environment for patients and staff by adhering to all health and safety regulations and protocols. Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with best practices in mental health nursing.
